19 Teams in 2010 NCAA Tourney Have One Thing in Common
Dr. Dish has been part of many successful Men’s DI basketball programs in the last seven years, and the 2009-2010 season has proven no different. For the second consecutive year a Dr. Dish owner has won the NCAA Men’s Division I basketball National Championship.
“Like most college athletes, our players keep an extremely busy schedule. Dr. Dish allows them to effectively work on their skills, and do so in a very time-efficient manner.”
- Brad Stevens, Head Men’s Basketball Coach, Butler University, Indianapolis, IN
The combined winning percentage of the 19 teams was an astounding 469-147 before entering the NCAA DI Tournament, a combined .761 winning percentage.
This is following the 2008-2009 season that the Dr. Dish was represented by 17 of the 64 teams and two of the Final Four. All this culminating with the University of North Carolina, a Dr. Dish customer since 2005, being crowned the 2009 NCAA Champion.
Airborne Athletics’ Basketball Coach of the Year
For the past five seasons, Coach Heather Macy and Airborne Athletics have teamed up to bring you the nation’s top shooting schools. As women’s head coach of Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer, NC, Coach Macy utilized the Dr. Dish basketball training unit to lead the nation in scoring (83.0 ppg) for NCAA Division II in 2006-07 and was honored as the Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference Coach of the Year.
After completing two successful seasons at Pfeiffer University, Coach Macy took over as head coach at Francis Marion University in Florence, SC and purchased another Airborne Athletics training product, the iMake. Coach Macy inherited a team with a previous record of 6-22 and turned the school’s program around to 21-9 in her first year. This was the 8th best won-loss turnaround in NCAA Division II history. Her teams once again led the nation in scoring with 89.3 ppg in 2007-2008 and 88.1 ppg in 2008-2009. Coach Macy has been awarded back-to-back Peach Belt conference Coach of the Year of Awards since taking over Francis Marion University Woman’s Basketball program.
Every season Coach Macy has produced consistent shooting teams with the highest scoring average in the nation. She is an avid fan of the Dr. Dish and iMake basketball training machines and had this to say, “Dr. Dish and iMake are constant figures in every one of our practices. This is our third season leading the nation in scoring and I attribute our consistent shooting to the commitment in utilizing these training machines. I would recommend Dr. Dish and iMake to any program that wants to increase shooting percentages while minimizing the time spent in the gym.”
Coach Macy is the founder of Focused 50 Basketball Camp, which is now held on the Francis Marion campus. She has also been invited to speak at the Nike Coaching Clinic in Myrtle Beach in April 2010 and the Texas Women’s Basketball Coaches Association that will also take place in April. Coach Macy has a two year coaching record at Francis Marion of 48-14 and a career record of 88-34!
Minnesota Timberwolves Improved Shooting Percentage to Highest in the League . . .
Leaving Coaches Everywhere Wondering, "What was their secret weapon?"
3 Tips for Improving your Team’s Skills using the Secret Weapon of the Top Teams
Minneapolis, MN- Last season, the Timberwolves had a secret weapon in their quest to improve their shooting percentage. The secret weapon was definitely successful; they ended the season tied with Sacramento for the highest shooting percentage in the NBA. At all levels of the game, coaches are now using that same weapon, the Dr. Dish ™ (www.drdishbasketball.com) to improve their players’ shooting percentage and their rebounding. Flip Saunders, Timberwolves Head Coach, asserts, "I’ve used other training machines. . . Dr. Dish is the best." Other top coaches including Roy Williams of the North Carolina Tar Heels and Steve Alford of the Iowa Hawkeyes also incorporated the Dr. Dish into their training regimes in the 2003-2004 season. They all agree that the Dr. Dish does more than any other training machine that they’ve worked with – training all of your players in virtually every facet of the game.
Following are Dr. Dish’s top tips for improving your team’s level of play:
Game Spot. Game Shot. Game-Speed. A common dilemma for coaches is that they seem to have two teams – the one that shows up for practice and the one that shows up for the game. At practice, the team can run the drills perfectly and sink every shot. At game time, nothing works – the team doesn’t seem to operate at the same level as the other team. Often, the problem may not lay in the players, but in how their practices are run. Ask your self this question, "Do my drills mimic my plays—are the passes coming from the right location to the right location and at the same speed as if it were a game?" If not, you need to redesign your practices so that the players are practicing as intensely as if it were a game. In a game, players never receive a nice easy pass from under the basket and leisurely shoot up a three pointer. They usually have to move to the pass, turn to the basket, and make a move to get open and then shoot. And always—someone is in their face. Because the Dr. Dish can be used anywhere on the court, coaches are able to use it to deliver realistic drill situations and control/increase the tempo of their practices.
You can’t score without shooting the ball, but you have to rebound in order to get the ball. Practice, practice, practice shooting, but don’t ignore the rebounding! Previously, in order to practice rebounding, you needed someone to shoot and miss (not a skill you encourage!). Using the Dr. Dish, you can repeatedly simulate a missed shot so that your players can practice their rebounding skills.
Don’t buy a single purpose training machine. The level of play at the professional level and in colleges, universities, and high schools has become increasingly competitive at the same time that economic concerns have limited many programs’ budgets. Since Dr. Dish is the only shooting machine that’s also a passing, rebounding and on court drill machine it truly is the one machine that you can’t afford not to buy.
Whether you’re goal is to lead the NBA in shooting percentage, win the conference, or have a team with better all around skills, top coaches agree that you better be looking at the Dr. Dish. According to Roy Williams, "The power and adaptability of Dr. Dish allows our players to effectively train from all areas of the court, individually, or as a team." Steve Alford says, "Dr. Dish certainly offers great versatility for our shooters. It is well-designed and is a teaching aid that players can see their constant improvement." Looking at their overall records, would you like to argue with them?"

Basketball: How do the Best keep getting Better?
Minneapolis, Minnesota, It’s the same no matter what the level – NBA Playoffs, the Final Four, or the Minnesota State Basketball Tournament. Every year you see a lot of the same coaches and the same teams. The only difference is the players just keep getting better and better.
Airborne Athletics, Inc. is a local company that helps the best keep getting better and growing programs get their game up to speed. Coaches have always pushed their players to be better shooters, passers, and rebounders, but there was no one training program or machine that could help them. Airborne has created the Dr. Dish™, the on-the-court drill machine that delivers over 1200 balls per hour to help players increase their shooting percentage, pull down more rebounds, and maintain better ball control!
Flip Saunders, Coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves, said, "I’ve used other training equipment . . . Dr. Dish is the best!" While other basketball training devices focus on just one aspect of the game, Dr. Dish is the first machine that can be used as a rebounder, a passer, and a shooter from anywhere on the court to create game-like training situations.
"We developed the Dr. Dish because we saw a need for a basketball drill machine that could add value and improve skills quickly," said Doug Campbell, President of Airborne Athletics. He continued, "Coaches kept telling us they were looking for a "drill machine" that could be used in every practice and for independent training." Airborne was able to exceed the expectations of coaches and players by utilizing their patented Consistent Air Technology which Airborne had previously used to create the AirCAT Volleyball Training Machine.
The reaction to the Dr. Dish since it was introduced in April of 2003 has been astounding. NBA and NCCA powerhouses such as the Minnesota Timberwolves, USC, University of Iowa, University of Wisconsin, and University of North Carolina are all recent Dr. Dish customers. Metro high schools such as Minneapolis Patrick Henry, Stillwater, Blaine and Eden Prairie are also owners of the Dr. Dish. Outstate high schools such as Fosston and Marshall have purchased the Dr. Dish, proving that schools don’t need to be large or in the Metro area to be dedicated to improving their basketball program.
